BALANCE FOR BUMPS
As a mum-to-be, your body is continually struggling to adapt to the changes in weight and posture as the baby grows with time. This can put strain on muscles and joints especially in the back, pelvis and legs.
An important part of preparation for childbirth is to ensure that the mum's pelvis is structurally balanced and able to allow the passage of the baby down through the birth canal.
Trauma to the pelvic bones, low back, sacrum or coccyx at any time before pregnancy can cause tension in muscles/ligaments/bones of the pelvis. This can lead to changes, which if left untreated can lead to difficulties - especially in labour.
Osteopathic treatment can help to balance muscles and joints in the body and increase pelvic mobility - ultimately helping to minimise problems with pregnancy and labour.
BALANCE FOR NEW MUMS
Once the baby arrives, it can be very easy to overlook your own health and recovery following the birth of your child. The mum's pelvis is susceptible to lasting strains from the force of labour, particularly after a difficult or prolonged delivery, as well as returning to its pre-pregnancy position.
Daily tasks can put increased strain on your body including: nursing the baby in poor positions, carrying the baby and lifting car seats to name just a few.
Post natal osteopathic treatment helps to re balance the body physically and mentally by releasing strains from pregnancy and labour. This is especially important if considering expanding the family in the future!
